Happy Birthday Sarah

We celebrated Sarah's Birthday this weekend. Her primary request was for me to make the Hazelnut Chocolate Torte which I made last year for her birthday. It is a deliciously sinful delight that we enjoy once a year! I arranged for her to have a massage today and we finished our weekend of celebrations with a dinner out at PF Changs today (they make the best Mongolian Beef there!). We do our best to pamper Sarah on her special day. She does so much for us every day that the least we could do is provide some delicious meals, some relaxation, and a few less chores for the weekend. We love you Sarah!

A Delicious Talent

About 3 years ago Sarah took up a new hobby of cake decorating.  She wanted to be able to make beautiful, fun cakes for all of our celebrations.  She took several classes and bought some supplies and started making cakes.  In the past several years we have enjoyed some very delicious and wonderfully decorated cakes.  She does an amazing job and she has fun with it.  I look forward to the future cakes we will continue to enjoy as she continues to develop this delicious talent.

Mother's Day

From Mother’s day to Father’s day is a pretty crazy time of the year for us. Not only do we celebrate those special days but we also have Alicia’s birthday, Joseph’s niece’s birthday, Adrianna’s birthday, Joseph’s birthday, a grandmother’s birthday, and now we added end of school activities. Unfortunately the craziness got the better of us and both Sarah and I came down with some pretty nasty upper respiratory infections. But we managed to enjoy some pretty descent celebrations.

For Mother’s day I made Sarah some strawberry crepes, and we enjoyed a pretty relaxing day making cards for Sarah and enjoying the day together. Though the girls and I try to show Sarah the appreciation she deserves every day; I know she enjoys having a day that she can call her own. Happy Mother’s day Sarah!

As you can see I am quite behind on my blogging, so I hope to catch up on the enjoyment of this time as I can. I expect to post about Adrianna’s graduation from pre-school and Alicia’s birthday shortly.

Happy Belated Birthday Sarah!

I am very late in making this post, but better late than never right?  We recently celebrated Sarah’s birthday, we spent most of the week celebrating starting with having her cousin Bob over.  The girls absolutely love having him over. Sarah’s one special request this year was to have me make a chocolate hazelnut torte, it came out pretty well even though I almost burnt down the house roasting the hazelnuts, luckily they were mostly salvageable and only slightly overly toasted.  My parents also invited us over on the day of Sarah’s birthday and we enjoyed spending time with them and my sister’s family.  Thank you everyone for helping us celebrate Sarah’s birthday!

As luck and Sarah would have it I do not have any pictures of the birthday girl for her birthday!

Little Biggs

A friend called Sarah Friday morning to say it was the Grand Opening of Little Bigg's and to get on over there, because it was free! (Thanks Melanie M)! She took the girls and invited other friends to join and they had a great time. Adrianna especially enjoyed the fire fighter area and the pizza. Alicia ate her own full slice of pizza. Definitely a fun way to spend zero dollars.

Sarah = Mother

I am very late about posting our fun Mother's day celebration. So here is a tribute to the Mother in our household, Sarah.

Sarah actually means "Princess" in Hebrew, but to us it definitely means Mother. When we got married we never doubted that Sarah would become a Mother. We weren't quite sure exactly how she would become a mother either, but we knew it would happen, and it was something she and I both wanted dearly. It is amazing now to enjoy her as a mother to our two beautiful girls. As all experienced mothers know; she doesn't get a break; she is constantly on the go; she is always learning, though she never gets a second chance; she is always looked up to, and she will always be revered. I am ever grateful for Sarah's efforts as a mom, she has already taught our daughters so much and I know she will teach them some of the most important lessons in life. To Adrianna, Alicia, and myself, we will always treasure Sarah, Mom. Thank you so much!

May 11th, 2008 - Mother's Day

For Mother's Day we enjoyed a very nice dinner, which Adrianna helped me prepare. She was very helpful with the cake decoration. It was cute to see how intent she was on spreading the frosting just right. Alicia did her part, making sure to get plenty of frosting on me. And we all had a wonderful evening.

The Simplest Toys

Sometimes the simplest things make the best toys. For Christmas Sarah got me a new Inflatable mattress for camping. This mattress is two twin size beds that join together to make a king or double up and even become a couch. Becuase they fold together they can be set up to make a perfect fort. Adrianna had a great time crawling through the fort, and she even stopped to let her sister try and to take a picture with all three of my girls.

Denver Zoo

October 20th, 2007

After the Halloween festival we headed up to Denver to take advantage of the Free Day. After battling traffic we made it to the zoo at 2:30 p.m., so we were able to enjoy the animals and exhibits for a few hours. I think the most fun was watching Adrianna's reaction to the animals. She especially liked the monkeys and the giraffes. Alicia was a great trooper and slept for most of the time and was happy hanging out in the stroller. The double stroller was perfect for the zoo as it allowed Adrianna stand, sit or climb up for a better view.

Halloween Festival

We took the girls too a halloween festival at our realtor's office. They throw this party every year and it was a fun opportunity to dress the girls up in their costumes. Adrianna is the cutest Winnie the Pooh, and Alicia makes a beautiful baby penguin. Sarah and I were convicts, it worked well because holding Alicia made us jail-birds. Adrianna had fun trick-or-treating, and enjoyed riding on a horse; we even were able to get Alicia up on the sadle for a few pictures.

Pool Party

October 6th, 2007

Adrianna's friend Amelia celebrated her third birthday with a wonderful pool party at their local YMCA. It was Alicia's first time in the pool and she did wonderfully. Adrianna couldn't help but show off her new found skills from swimming lessons, and spent most of the pool time bobbing up and down in the water. It is great to see how she went from being very reserved in the water and wanting to be in constant contact with Mommy or Daddy, to being her usual adventurous self.

Happy Birthday Amelia! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Picture Practice

As you can imagine, in order to get used to the new camera Sarah and I have been taking pictures of everything. Luckily we have one willing subject (Alicia, who really doesn't get a choice) and one semi-willing subject. Here are some fun pictures we have as we experiment with our fun toy.

The girls questioning the sanity of their parents!

Alicia flashing a smile for mommy!

Adrianna in action (the only way to take pictures of her willingly)

Our Apple tree (Golden Delicious!)

Adrianna loves apples!

Dad, are we done with pictures yet!

I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoy taking them!

Warning! Picture Overload

I got Sarah her Christmas present a little early this year! Since this is prime picture taking season (Fall, Halloween, First Snows, Thanksgiving, Christmas, More Snow, etc.), we decided to upgrade to a digital SLR camera. With Adrianna we need a camera that can keep up with her whenever she is ready. So I got her an Olympus EVOLT E-510. So far it has been wonderful, and it simplifies shooting enough for Sarah and I to learn some of the advanced features as we go. So expect a lot of pictures from these proud parents!

Store Bought or Homemade?

So which is it? I was had at first, then I realized it was too early for stores to be making jack-o-lantern cookies, and these cookies were much too delicious to be made in any store. Sarah continues to perfect her decorating talent and made these with fondant. She is taking a class now learning how to use this dough-like frosting. I expect you will see some beautifully decorated cakes in the near future!

4th of July Fun

We celebrated the fourth by going to the Briargate YMCA with some friends, where they had an open house of sorts with a Bar-B-Q and fun games for the kids. We had a great time and the kiddos got to expend some energy dancing and playing. Alicia slept through the entire event which worked out perfectly. Click here or on the album above to link to a video of Adrianna getting down to the song YMCA by the Village People!

Later that evening we went for a stroll around the neighboorhood as a family. Adrianna loves our new double stroller, she enjoys looking at Alicia in her car seat. It is great to be able to stroll around and enjoy the wonderful Colorado evenings.

Alicia's Blessing Day

Alicia was given a name and blessed today at Church. It was a wonderful day and we were blessed that many of our family could be a part of the blessing including the Abuelos who came from Utah (thank you Mom & Dad for making that happen!). After church we had a wonderful meal of Milanesa (a recipe Sarah learned from Abuela), and Sarah made a beautiful and delicious rasberry cake. It is trully inspiring to see our girls enjoying their Great Grandparents. It was a wonderful family weekend!

Family Picnic

We enjoyed our first Family picnic with Alicia on Tuesday, she had her 2 week doctor's visit so they could check on her weight (she is now 7 lbs). After her visit we joined up with Adrianna's playgroup at Ye Old World Park in Cordera, it is themed after Alice in Wonderland. Adrianna got a chance to run around while Sarah was swarmed by moms who wanted to confirm the rumors of Alicia's miraculous birth. It was nice to relax a bit and enjoy the park.

Doctor Leihr

Sarah saw Dr. Leihr today who delivered Alicia. Sarah is healing well and feeling better each day; though she still has her ups and downs.

Dr. Leihr is older than he looks, but this didn't stop Sarah from cracking jokes about his age through the whole delivery process. When she first saw him at our first visit she called him Doogie Houser! The jokes kept her in good spirits and the nurses laughing. He did a great job and we are very grateful that he was willing to see us with such short notice and work with us though we did not have any pre-natal care.
