Canned Peaches

P9234507

We finished canning our third box of peaches tonight. I think we did a total of 60 lbs.  I can't wait to reap the benefits of all the work. We decided that since we still have jars of peach jam from last year that we should try canning peach slices. They came out very nice and they are worth the effort to can them: Blanching, Peeling, Pitting, Slicing, Canning, and Processing (Boiling). We are going to try some pears next, woo hoo!

Uncles

P8170669

What are uncles for if not to throw you around and get hyped up?

At a recent family dinner both girls enjoyed getting thrown around by their uncle David and uncle Zane.  Alicia is a little trick though, she will latch onto you for dear life if you try to throw her too high!

Me Doll

Me Doll

August 27th, 2008

One of Adrianna's first preschool assignments was to make a representative doll of herself. Sarah helped her put this fine doll together, complete with soccer ball and all. Sarah also helped her rehearse a short biography about herself that she could share with her teachers and friends in preschool. It is wonderful to see how excited she gets about Preschool.

Rough Housing

When we began the adoption process we became friends with another couple who had just recently completed the adoption of their son Harrison. When we adopted Adrianna, it just so happened that she was about the same age as Harrison. They have always played very well together, but now that they are on the same soccer team we cannot seperate them. They play like two brothers, Adrianna loves to tackle him, beat on him and everything brothers would do together. Yeah, it is all fun now, but boy are we are going to have fun once Adrianna is older!

Back to School Cake

Sarah made this cute little cake when we had her cousin Bobby over in August. It was to celebrate Adrianna going back to school. The cake was even better than it looks, and I must say she did a really nice job on it!

Little Things

I would have never thought that the act of putting on socks and shoes would ever be so cute. But when it clicked for Alicia to sit down and stick her feet out so someone can put on her socks it just gets you. I am amazed at the little things Alicia learns from each of us, especially from her older sister. Usually it is those little things that touch your heart.

Birthday Parties

We have enjoyed several birthday parties in the past month, culminating with a double header this past weekend going a friend's 4 year old party here in the Spring's to another friend's 1 year old twins part up in Littleton. The girls have enjoyed the various parties, we had a great time in August at a another friend's 2 year old party hosted at My Gym. Neither of the girls wanted to participate at first until they found the ball pen which warmed them up to some other activities.  But anyway, here is a compilation of some of the party pictures in sideshow format.

Sunset House

P8284228

I took this picture while Adrianna was enjoying a short motorcycle ride with our home teacher.  She has always loved motorcycles, and she has been itching at a chance to ride one.  While they were going up the street I turned and saw the beautiful colors of the sunset which highlighted the house perfectly.

Preschool

Adrianna started Preschool in August, we got her into a program that is 4 days a week from 1pm to 4pm. Adrianna loves going to Preschool.  She has three wonderful teacher who have their hands full with her but enjoy her energy and enthusiasm.  So far things have been going great and we are thrilled to watch her enjoy learning.  Though she had a hard time seeing her go, Sarah is pretty thrilled to have a few hours of peace in the afternoons as this time coincides with Alicia's naps. So far the hardest part about Preschool has been getting Alicia to come home once she is inside the classroom. Alicia wants to stay with her sister and have fun too.

Fall Soccer

P8184142

Soccer started this Fall, and I dove into the action coaching again. I really enjoy running around with the kids. Though I try to teach them the objective of the game, for the most part if I can get them to run around for 45 minutes or more I consider it a success. I love the above picture as it is one of the few where everyone is running with a ball. Usually one kid is distracted by a butterfly, another is off doing somersaults, Adrianna is tackling her friend Harrison, and well you get the picture.

Reading with Tio David

Uncle David came over to the house on their recent visit to Colorado. He came by to join us for Soccer Practice and we recruited him to read to the girls. They enjoyed having a new narrator. Both girls enjoyed reading with their uncle. Alicia couldn't just allow her sister to have all the attention. She made it a point to get into the middle of the action and to be the center of attention.

Thank you David for spending you evening with us, the girls had a blast and can't wait for the next reading session!

Blog Break

I did not expect summer to come to such an abrupt halt. With Adrianna starting preschool, the whole family starting Soccer, and the wonderful cool weather; Summer is gone and I have not had a chance to blog all the fun we've had.  I hope to catch up soon. So this blog will hopefully be inundated with new posts, just because I haven't blogged does not mean we haven't been keeping busy.

Diaper Loading

A friend of ours thought this was a fittingly geeky shirt for our daughter. I have to say I couldn't agree more, I love this shirt. Though I will say, we have been pretty lucky with Alicia as she only downloads once a day!

Thank you for the shirt Amy!!!!!

Kimonos

July 28th, 2008

Grandma & Grandpa Fedele recently went to Japan to visit their newest Granddaughter. They brought home these very cute pajama kimono outfits for the girls. They have a touch for finding perfect gifts, pretty much any adorable clothes for the girls or something with penguins for Sarah. They also found a cute glass penguin figurine, sorry no picture. Thank you so much for thinking of us while you were off on the other side of the world!

Thank you Dad!

Well Dad, the correcting you did of our English while we were growing up has paid off!

Our little menace

Alicia learned the potential fun of stuffing her onesie with blocks the other day. I recently put together a shoe organizer that used plastic connectors. It so happened that the set fully assembled had about 20 extra connectors, which Alicia thought were the best toys in the world. I noticed that she was jingling when she walked and soon realized that she was putting the connectors into her onesie. I shot this video of her in action. I especially love the little hip shake at the end of the clip!

Sky Sox

July 26th, 2008

As part of our church calling, as the Young Single Adult representatives for our ward, we joined the Singles for an evening at the Sky Sox Game. We enjoyed the game, Adrianna's favorite moment was meeting Sox the Fox, unfortunately this was probably Alicia's least favorite moment. Both girls especially enjoyed the company of the single guys. We enjoyed a night out as a family!

The best view of the game is of course on top of daddy's shoulders.

Chalk Art

We had Sarah's cousin Bobby over for dinner the other day. The girls always love when he comes over. This time it was nice enough to go outside to play and Adrianna had been dying to use her sidewalk chalk. Bobby showed her the fine art of body outlines. They had fun drawing outlines and other art on the patio. Alicia even had fun opening and closing the door, and playing in the play house.

Pizza Picnic

We started a tradition of late night dinners in bed with Adrianna when I was in school and would get out of class around 11 p.m. Now we reserve eating in bed to special pizza nights. We usually pick up a pizza at Little Ceasars, we make Root Beer floats, we cover the bed with a sheet, throw in a movie and enjoy! The girls love it, though Alicia usually bounces around more than she eats. It makes for a fun and exciting picnic!

8 Year Anniversary

Sarah and I celebrated our 8th Anniversary this week on the 22nd. I took the afternoon off and we went to lunch and a movie with everyone. Lunch at Olive Garden was nice and then we went to see Nim's Island at the dollar theater. Adrianna enjoyed the movie, Sarah and I tried our best at taking turns entertaining Alicia. Popcorn worked well, until she dumped it on the floor and tried to eat it from there.

We kept our Anniversary simple this year, we are enjoying our girls very much and neither of us could ask for anything more than to enjoy spending time as a family.
